There are multiple methods to boot your Galaxy Mega into download mode. The most handy (and hardware coded) method is about pressing a combination of keys for a few seconds on your Galaxy Mega. Others are software based, let’s have a look them below:

1) Boot into Galaxy Mega Download Mode Using HARDWARE BUTTONS

This method is a fail-proof method that’ll always work for you, unless you’ve broken one of hardware keys. In such a case you’d be left with only the other two methods discussed below.

• Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.

2) Boot into Galaxy Mega Download Mode Using ADB

ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge, a tool used to send terminal commands to a Android device via a PC command line. ADB requires a bit of setup, but it gets the job done with much lesser effort than hardware buttons, so pretty useful in cases when you’ve to boot in download mode frequently. Also, if (for some reason) your hardware buttons aren’t working than this is a very good alternative to boot into download mode.

• Extract the file (ADB files for Download Mode.zip) you downloaded from the link above to a separate folder on your computer
• Prepare your phone
  • Enable developer options: Go to your phone’s Settings » select About phone » Scroll to the bottom and tap on ‘Build number’ seven times to enable developer options
  • Enable USB Debugging: Open phone’s Settings » select Developer options » Tick the ‘USB debugging’ checkbox (under Debugging section)
• Connect your phone to PC with a USB cable and if/when a pop-up screen shows up on Phone asking you to ‘Allow USB debugging?‘ for the computer, make sure you tick the checkbox and tap OK
  
• Open the folder where you extracted the files and double-click/run the ‘Boot into Download Mode.bat‘ file to reboot your device into download mode

FYI, the ‘Boot into Download Mode.bat‘ script file that we used above to boot your device into download mode just uses one line of command:

If you already have ADB setup on your computer and you know how to use it, then you may just use the command given above to boot into download mode.

3) Boot into Galaxy Mega Download Mode Using Quick Boot (Reboot) APP

Yes! There’s an app for rebooting your phone into download mode, and it’s more easier than the methods we discussed above. But it won’t work unless you’ve root access on your device, and since not everyone roots their device, we’ve put this as the last method here.

ROOT ACCESS REQUIRED

• Install the Quick Boot (Reboot) app from Play Store on your Galaxy Mega | Play store link →
• Open the app and grant Root Access
• Select ‘Bootloader‘ from the list of options and it’ll boot your device into download mode

Good new for all the Samsung users who like to tinker with their Galaxy devices. If you have rooted or installed a custom ROM and want to revert back the changes using a clean firmware flash and restore it to stock, then here is a simple tool named SamFirm that can download the latest full stock firmware TAR files onto your PC. Plus you get to check the latest firmware for your device as well. All you need to do is fill in the firmware details into the script and check for the file. Moreover, getting a full firmware file is not a bit difficult job and sometimes may get frustrating. There are some portals claiming to provide these files but they either need a premium package or have speed or bandwidth restriction. But no more. The developer of SamFirm claims that with this software, you can download the firmware files directly from Samsung servers with no such speed restrictions.

Now, this script does not guarantee all the firmware files for all regions. It may sometimes fail for some regions or you may need to enter additional information about your Galaxy device into the software. So it’s better to keep the device/software information handy. SamFirm (Thanks to zxz0O0 on XDA)and the newly introduced Firja (Thanks to invmini on XDA) are the two download tools that will let you download the latest and official Sasmung full stock firmware right on your computer. Mind you that these are Windows supported programs. So for MacOS and Linux OS support, you will have to wait util the developers officially support them.

SamFirm was the first tool made to download the official Samsung firmware files with .TAR extensions and it still works. Firja came later with a refreshed user interface and a Night mode too. Note: For AT&T models, use SamFirm. These tools can be used to download for all the Samsung phones ranging from the latest Galaxy S10/S10+/S10e, Note 9, Galaxy S8 (Plus), S9/S9+, or earlier. Even the latest mid-range phones like Galaxy A30, M30, A50, M50, A60, A70, M20, M10, and many more.

Samsung Official Firmware Download for Galaxy directly from Samsung Servers

Step 1: Make sure you have a Windows PC with .Net Framework v3.5+ (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) installed)

Step 2 : Download and install SamFirm or Firja (which ever you like) and extract it to a folder.

Step 3 : Note down all the details of your Samsung Galaxy device. Step 4 : Go to the extracted folder of software and Run SamFirm.exe. Now fill in the information and check Auto. Now check on Check Update and you will get all the firmware information in the log. You may sometimes need to fill the PSD and CSC of latest firmware in case it can’t automatically retrieve information.

Note: Tick the Decrypt automatically option to get the decrypted firmware.

Step 5: Verify the information and firmware file and once you are convinced, hit the download button.

That’s it wait for the firmware to download. You may sometimes not see the speed and % of download information. You may verify if SamFirm is using bandwidth in Task Manager.
